The Grace Paley Fund for Vermont Writers was created under the auspices of the National Writers Union Vermont chapter to to help ease the financial burdens peculiar to writers in a low-income, mostly rural state. Small grants are available for travel, photocopying, education and other expenses.
Our original inspiration for establishing the fund came after discussions of all the writers we knew with books and articles that lay unfinished or unpublished for lack of relatively minor sums (at least compared to what more highly paid professionsals might spend without a second thought). Writers in need of grants to complete and publish projects that are already underway are particularly encouraged to contact us.
